Politics

If you are anything like me, you can't wait till next Wednesday so we can get rid of the annoying political TV ads.  I will admit that I have not been very focused on the politics and have not kept up a lot with where each candidate stands.  But I am aware of many of the items and have done some research.

Our economy may not be that great right now, and thus many people may be determining their vote on what is best for our economy or what is best for them.  I however want to vote based on my beliefs and morals.  I trust in God as my provider and my protector...not the president of the United States.  However, I believe our country needs leaders who are capable, trustworth, and who fear God.  I question whether some of the candidates fall into these categories.  If you have not followed the politics then I would encourage you to do some research.  If you are thinking of not voting then I urge you to get out and vote.

"Don't vote for your selfish interest, instead vote for God's good purposes!" Chuck Colson, founder, Prison Fellowship

"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God" Romans 13:1.

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."  2 Chronicles 7:13-15

Angels and Demons

Our cell group is going to do a study on Spiritual Warfare.  I think it will be a great study.  We are going to be reading through The Bondage Breaker by Neil T. Anderson as a guide to help facilitate discussion.  We don't have to agree with what he says but we want to discuss the view points and share from there.

As I read through the first 2 chapters, I found that our typical worldview tends to not include things such as angels and demons.  However, I do believe they are regularly in our lives in some way or another.  FYI - I always think of Frank Peretti's series on This Present Darkness when I think of angels and demons.

I find that we tend to try and explain things that seem to make more logical sense.  For example, we may try to explain the headache we are having as being from a lack of sleep, not enough food, too much stress, etc.  In actuality, it may be brought on by a demon.  I find that I don't typically think of things this way.  I don't know if I believe that, in this example, every headache is necessarily brought on by demons as some of them could truly come from physical items such as your neck being out of alignment.

Wanda gets migranes quite often and I have to wonder if this is the work of a demon.  I think I will be praying a lot more for her when she starts to get these headaches rather than just assuming it is something "natural".
