What I've been up to lately

Since I have not posted a lot lately I thought I would write up a catch-up post. I broke it into a few sections.

In-Laws
We had Wanda's mom and sister in town this past weekend. We enjoyed spending time with them. We made a brunch once they got here, went to the Mall to pick up Wanda's re-sized ring, and then on Saturday afternoon we went to see "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" and really liked it. They stayed through Sunday afternoon. It is always nice to have family come and visit.

Adoption application
Wanda and I finally finished the adoption application and mailed it in. Not sure how long till we hear it is accepted, but our part on that is done. God is good and I can't wait to see how he provides for us. Once approved the next step is the Home Study process.

Streaming Radio on the phone
I have been learning some new things that I can do with my new phone (a blackberry). One is stream music to my cell phone which is pretty cool. I am using Pandora. There is no talking, just music which is nice. I can make a custom channel of artists/songs I like or just choose a genre based on the mood I am in. You can even specify if you like or dislike the songs. I use something similar on my computer (and eventually through my xbox) called last.fm. Pandora is also available via the PC if anyone is interested in these options. My phone came with a headset that has 2 ear buds for use in listening to music, watching videos, as well as talking on the phone.

Scripture Memory
I have never been very good at memorizing scripture but this is something I am trying to change. I figured rather than just memorizing the reference and the verse that I would try to also memorize the author and the topic for additional recall ability. I am going to try and do one a week at least (but not keeping to a specific schedule at the moment) which shouldn't be too hard. The tricky part is finding a good way to practice them. Currently I utilize some of my car rides and just recite them but there aren't a lot at the moment so it is a bit easier. Any tips or suggestions? I want to be able to recall scripture much better than I am currently.

Five Guys
I met Harry down at Five Guys in Edina for lunch the other day. I heard of the place from MajorNelson (Xbox Live Community Manager) and just recently discovered we had one here in the cities. I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger and ended up getting a double bacon cheeseburger (not by mistake, that is how they are made). 2 thick patties plus whatever toppings I wanted at no extra cost. The fries were great as well and to top it off you can grab some shelled peanuts to eat with the meal at no extra cost. If you are in the area you should give it a try (find the store location as well as the complete menu on their website)

Tennis
I got the opportunity to play some tennis with Jason K again this past Tuesday. I have always appreciated his desire to get out and play. I always enjoy playing just don't have a ton of people who suggest getting out and playing. I will miss being able to play with him after he moves out to WI. Guess I will have to take my racket out to CFS next spring when we go out there.

Recent Activities

This last Friday my parents came down to the cities and went to the Twins game with us. I scored the tickets from work so we got really good seats. It was a fun game and we won which made it even better. 9th inning had me a little worried but they pulled through. They stayed the night and left on Saturday morning.

Saturday I went and helped my friend Will move. There were only a couple of us but we were able to make a few trips and didn't have any issues. All went well and we got a lot of stuff moved to the new house.

Sunday after church I helped Sharon move. She was moving only 3 miles from her old place so it was a relatively quick move. In fact, from the time we showed up to the time we left her old house was about 30 minutes. However, this was one of the first moving times where we had some issues. The first was putting a table at the back of the pickup in such a way that the drawers could fall out. The second was the Mattress that was strapped to the top of my truck almost landed in the middle of the road. Thankfully we strapped it on in such a way that it couldn't leave the truck unless the straps broke. Instead, they just slid which caused the bed to slide to the back of the truck. I quickly stopped and changed how I had hooked up the straps. Wanda and I finished the evening watching the remainder of Heroes: Season 3.

Monday night we had a group of 14 of us go to Acapulco restaurant for their Taco Mondays (75 cents per taco). I always enjoy doing this and enjoy hanging out with some friends. That evening Wanda and I got caught up on Big Brother 11. Netflix on the Xbox 360 sure comes in handy!

Tuesday I took the day off to go fishing. Dan took Jason and I out in his boat. The lake we were going to go to was not possible due to the public access not being very friendly. Thus we had to detour to a different nearby lake. There were a few small perch/bass caught but not worth keeping. One northern that was also a bit too small. And one 3 to 4 pound Bass that Jason caught in somewhat of a team fashion :). We kept the fish for Jason and Kane (aka Spring...you had to be at Acapulco to understand) to enjoy. It made for a nice fillet.

Tuesday night I was informed by my boss that he had tickets to Wednesday's (todays) Twin's game. The game is at 12:10 and he was taking 3 of us with him. So I get to enjoy a half day of work and then go to another Twins game.
