As you all know, we had plans of adopting and had begun the process. Apparently God had other plans. You did read the title correctly. Wanda and I are expecting and the baby is due on December 9, 2010. Read on for more details on our story.
April 10th - Wanda took a home pregnancy test and there was a VERY faint second line. We assumed it didn't mean anything. We were hesitant to think it was anything else as we hadn't been able to get pregnant for the last 10 years.
April 12th - Some friends tried to force us to go to a clinic and get a test. Due to not being able to find a close clinic to where we were we decided to do it a little later.
April 14th - Wanda went to a minute clinic where it was confirmed that she was indeed pregnant. She came home with a gift for me and also gave me the results of the test that they did.
April 15th - Wanda went to the actual doctor's clinic to do more official tests. I had taken off work early due to an Adoption Meeting we had at 1:30pm. We officially put the adoption process on hold and instead went to get an ultrasound done to determine how far along we had been. I was blessed to be able to go with to the Ultrasound. It was amazing to see the little baby that looked like a peanut on the screen. Even more amazing was to watch the flickering on the screen that was the Baby's heartbeat! This was absolutely amazing! They determined that we were exactly 6 weeks along.
May 24th - Wanda and I went in for a checkup with her new doctor. It was during this meeting that we got to hear the "whoosing" of our baby's heartbeat. When we first heard it we both almost cried and had huge smiles on our faces.
May 27th - We are officially 12 weeks along!
June 21st - Next doctor's appointment to do some tests to make sure the spinal cord is developing properly and do some early tests for Down-syndrome.
Please Pray - This pregnancy is considered a high risk pregnancy due to a couple items. Wanda has had a couple miscarriages in the past 10 years in which the baby never made it past a few weeks. Her diabetes also adds to the increased risk of the pregnancy. Pray for good health for both Wanda and the baby.
We are not sure why God has waited so long for us to get pregnant. We were fully prepared to just go with the adoption process and were not expecting to get pregnant. God obviously had other plans. We give Him the glory and praise!
